The
Pointed Needle
This is a
337 meter high basalt mountain, an extraordinary geological wealth
of the Káli Basin. Its formation: during the volcanic eruption, the
basalt lava got stuck in the flue before arriving to the surface.
The rocks embracing the solidated lava have been eroded, the basalt
remained and the hard material took the shape of a steep cone. The
basalt was mined from the 30-ies until 1970. Today it is a protected
geological sight.
